BDSM / Fetish

NOTE: The term BDSM is often used to cover a range of interests such as fetishes, body modification, and sexual play (including domination/submission, bondage, and sadomasochism). If this is not of interest to you, please check out the types of social events listed on this page.

For a list of special BDSM events or workshops, check out the following pages:

Vancouver Girls' Night Out

The Vancouver Girls Night Out Club hosted by Patty. This club is for local T-Girls and CD's to meet, chat, have dinner and plan outings together. New members, out of town visitors, wives and S/O's are most welcome! We offer an environment where you can get dressed up, go out for a nice dinner in a comfortable and safe atmosphere with liked minded girls. This is a social forum for support and information.

Resources for Support

Many trans people and loved ones seek support to deal with concerns relating to discrimination, or to make sense of emotional distress that can arise around gender issues.

Support options in BC include:

Peer support

TAS member groups in Vancouver, Victoria, Nanaimo, and Nelson offer individual and group peer support for trans people and loved ones. Many groups that provide individual support can offer it by phone and/or email if you live in a rural area or prefer the anonymity of the internet.

There are a number of BC-based listservs where you can get peer support.

The Transgender Health Program community counsellor provides peer support to trans people and loved ones in BC by phone/TTY, email, or in person. In the Lower Mainland, call 604-734-1514; in the rest of BC, call 1-866-999-1514 (toll-free).

The Prideline offers peer support on LGBT issues via a toll-free phone line accessible throughout BC. Operating 7 days per week from 7-10 PM, the Prideline is staffed by trained volunteers. In the Lower Mainland, call 604-684-6869; in the rest of BC, call 1-800-566-1170.

The TAS Peer Support Working Group is brainstorming ways to strengthen existing peer support resources (e.g., through training for group facilitators) and create a one-on-one peer support program. Members are contacting other peer support programs to see how they are structured and to explore the possibilities of partnership. To get involved, send an email to TAS Secretary.
