Gender
Euphoria Day 2010 Vancouver's Annual Celebration of
Gender Postponed until 2011 although there may be another
event later this year.
Gender
Euphoria is an annual celebration of the lives of
transgendered, transsexual, gender-variant, and genderqueer
folk, as well as those of our partners and allies.
We
started Gender Euphoria to remind the world that you can be
anywhere on the gender spectrum and still be happy. And you
can love people anywhere on the spectrum and still be happy.
So put away that old DVD of The
Crying Game,
pause your Boys
Don't Cry
torrent, and come on down for festive funness.
Admission
is by donation; give what you feel comfortable giving,
whatever that might be. There are fantastic door prizes,
all the activities inside are free, and the food will only no
longer cost a dollar because a kind donor wants to keep the
fun inclusive and accessible to all, but remember, seating is
limited -- if you want a seat, you should come early.
Since
we're aiming to make this event accessible to all, we've
considered issues of physical accessibility. Heritage Hall is
a wheel-chair accessible venue, and the primary entrance to
the event will be the accessible entrance, a few meters to the
south of the main doors with steps.
Gender
Euphoria is an annual festival that celebrates the lives of
trans, genderqueer, and gender-variant people. We started
Gender Euphoria as a counterpoint to the Trans Day of
Remembrance. While it's important to remember all the bad
things that can happen to those of us who live several
standard deviations from the cookie-cutter norm, it's also
important to exercise our ability to have fun.
About
& History
Gender
Euphoria, originally called "Happy Tranny Day"
debuted in 2008, as the brainchild of a couple of local
transmen. They noticed that often conversations in trans
communities, and activities that bring us together, are about
the challenges we face in the world. Also, they saw that
different parts of trans communities aren't often in contact
with one another. He wanted there to be a place for us all to
come together to play, have fun, celebrate who we are! They
saw that there's loads of great stuff about being trans -
we're strong, courageous and creative people, and we can offer
a heck of a lot to one another to the world. So, a group of us
came together put "Happy Tranny Day" it was full of
warmth and fantastic energy.
